Larry Bird faces helluva defensive pressure in the famous 1979 NCAA Final game. The 2-3 Michigan State zone is ready to have off-the-ball defenders help out and surround Bird with two or even three men every time he touches the ball. I didn’t want to focus on it too much as this video is meant to praise Bird but I did include the sequence at 2:07 so you could see Larry’s troubles on offense.
Other than that you can still appreciate his smooth shooting on the shots he made and his underrated rebounding ability. He basically is Indiana State’s center the whole game long and manages to hold his own against the athletic Ron Charles, Magic Johnson, Greg Kesler and Jay Vincent.
